Teaching Essay Writing

In this module you will learn about the essay structure and types of essays, as well as the most common students' problems in essay writing (Section 1), about ways of collecting and logically and graphically organising information for the essay (Section 2), about logically organising information within the essay in accordance with the rhetoric and discourse rules of the English language (Section 3) and about ways of teaching students to write a good introduction, a good body and a good conclusion of the essay. Some ways of organising assessment and follow-up work are also presented in Section 4.

Practice tasks and sample exercises are intended to help you develop a resource bank for your students to be used with the textbooks you normally use in your classroom.
